Assemblies and Collective Worship

"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..." - Romans 12: 4-6

'When the school worships together, in school or at Church, there is a tangible sense of belonging.'

Church Leader Collective Worship

Church leaders from the local community deliver Collective Worship based on half termly themes such as Responsibility and Justice.

Values Assembly

The headteacher delivers this assembly which links to the school GRACE values and also incorporates themes such as Anti-Bullying Week or Pupil Wellbeing.

Celebration Assembly

Every Thursday, we have a Celebration Assembly where children share and celebrate ambitious learning. This links to our GRACE value of 'Ambition'. GRACE value certificates are presented, and children who have earned medals and certificates out of school can be presented with their awards.

Our House Captains give a House Points update.

Special Celebration Assemblies

At the end of each half-term, we have a Special Celebration Assembly. Children who have stood out for having shown excellent determination, a conscientious attitude to work, and followed the school values throughout the half-term are awarded this accolade. The parents of these children are secretly invited in advance to join us in the assembly to celebrate their achievements.

GenR8 Assemblies

Occasionally, we have a group called GenR8 who deliver Collective Worship.

Rights and Responsibilities

At Oakington C of E Primary School, every member of our community has the right:

  • To be treated with respect;
  • To be safe physically and emotionally;
  • To learn without unfair distraction.

We therefore have the responsibility to make sure we do not take away any of these rights.

'Pupils learn in a happy and safe school community and ‘love going to school.’
